Devonport is one of Auckland’s oldest suburbs and is well known for its independent spirit and activist community.  Enjoying close proximity to the CBD, it has a relaxed seaside vibe and a strong link to the arts, music & literary scene. It is also home to the NZ Navy and is the site of the Tainui Waka landing. Devonport has a rich archaeological, maritime and boat building history.

Only 12 minutes from the city and with easy access to many fabulous beaches and miles of waterfront it’s a perfect place for walking, Segway or cycling tours.

Our town centre is compact and easy to get around. One of the best heritage streetscapes in Auckland, the village offers a truly unique boutique shopping experience. The stores are local independent businesses offering friendly personal service and a wonderful range of products, including NZ designed fashion, design and gift shops.

Relax and enjoy Devonport’s many beautiful and accessible beaches or stroll the shell paths along the waterfront. Spoil yourself with a special treatment at one of Devonport’s top spas or beauty salons.

Rich in both Maori and early colonial history, Devonport offers some of the best views in Auckland.

Standing tall above the Devonport town centre is Takarunga / Mount Victoria, the highest volcano on Auckland's North Shore, rising to 87 m. Its lava flows now line much of Devonport's waterfront. An important Pa once occupied its slopes, and remnants of the Pa's earthworks can still be seen. The name Takarunga means "the hill standing above".For the very best sunset views of Auckland City and the harbour, climb this treasured local landmark. A relatively easy 20 minute climb will get you to the summit.

Finish the day with a well earned drink & delicious local cuisine at one of the lively bars or pubs in town before heading back to the city via the ferry. Devonport offers a range of casual bistro type restaurants set in relaxed surroundings with great food at reasonable prices.
