Devonport is a fantastic place to live, a tight-knit community in a pocket of Aotearoa-paradise. It is one of Auckland’s oldest suburbs and is well known for its independent spirit and activism.
Devonport's Local Authority was the first to provide voting rights for women, establish a free library, initiate a comprehensive recycling programme, as well as being the first authority to declare itself nuclear free. Many of its local businesses aspire to becoming zero waste and continue to take steps towards this important goal.
In addition to its natural assets, Devonport is rich in community spirit and love nothing more than to be brought together at community events, celebrating the place they love to call home.
Devonport is also one of the few remaining Auckland communities that has a local newspaper, reporting on community matters. The Devonport Flagstaff is produced fortnightly. Read the latest copy online here.
