Devonport’s parks and reserves provide space for recreation, organised sport, playground use, walking and access to the coast. Windsor Reserve occupies a central waterfront location near the ferry and village shops. Larger open spaces include Maungauika/North Head, Takarunga/Mount Victoria, sports grounds and coastal reserves around the peninsula.
These areas include grassed fields, mature trees, paths, seating and viewpoints across the harbour and Hauraki Gulf. Some reserves also protect archaeological, volcanic or military heritage. The network of public spaces allows residents and visitors to move between the town centre, beaches and elevated landmarks largely through walkable streets and connected recreational areas.
